Why Do I Teach?

When asked why I teach,

I reply,

"Because of the splendid company I keep."

Within my classroom, I see the farmer, the builder, the nurse, and the mechanic.

They are young and strong and eager to learn and play.

Nearby sit the doctor, the laborer, the attorney, and the salesman.

All are unbiased and full of life each and every day.

The minister, the teacher, the actress, and the counselor are also with me.

It's truly amazing, all the wonderful people I see.

These are the ones who will shape the future.

And heal the sick, farm the land, serve others, plan, and pray.

They will grow to become an influence in many diverse ways.

Although I may not see them in their prime,

I can say I knew them well at another time.

I knew them all as youngsters who were proud, or bold, or shy, or kind.

And each one I taught and counted as mind.

There's an easy answer to why I teach.

It's definitely because of the splended company I keep.

Why I Teach

I teach to help my students and to make a difference in their lives.  I teach because I love teaching.  I love reaching, reaching students and making a positive difference that will affect generations.  To me the mind is the most interesting thing, the fact that we can learn and remember so many things is amazing to me.  Teaching is so rewarding.  We never stop learning.  Learning is life.

I teach because of my love for reading, writing, words, learning and teaching.

That's The Beauty of Teaching

There's a certain beauty,

Of teaching ABC,

Going through the pages,

Is right up there with the sages,

And I have heard,

There's something splendid in the word,

And even better,

In telling kids about a letter,

And the best thing you can get,

Is teaching the alphabet.

I teach to make a difference.

To teach is to reach across lines that intersect the lives of students forever.

I teach so that others may learn.

When I teach, I learn, too.  There is so much to know and we can never know it all.  I love the challenge of teaching.  As I teach, I too grow right along with my students.

Teaching makes me happy.  It gives me a thrill to know I have helped someone, and that this help I give to that student came to me from someone who helped me.  In turn, this person I teach wil turn to another to help them, and so on it goes...

Teaching gives you immortality.  There will always be a part of  you living when you teach because your affect on others never stops!

Do you have a buddy,

With whom you can study?

Is your teacher

A preacher?

Does it get your goat,

When you have to take notes?

You can grow a seed,

When you read.

It leads to graduation,

That's what you get from an education!

My Teacher

My teacher,

Had an interesting feature,

She was concerned,

That I learned.

I mean she cared,

About how my education fared.

She wanted me to go to school,

And not be a fool.

She wanted me to read a book,

No matter how long it took.

Oh yes, my teacher,

Was quite a creature!

Little Turtles Make Big Differences

It doesn't take much,

For a turtle to make a difference and such,

To help just one,

Is easy when it's done,

If a turtle is small,

He still is very tall,

If he is wee,

And hard to see,

We know he's there,

If he shows a care,

You think if he is small he cannot be seen,

But think again, he's green.

Turtle Teacher

The turtle was a teacher,

She came out of her shell,

Went in the gym and sat on the bleacher,

Oh, but then she fell,

The gym teacher caught her

And gave her some water,

Called her daughter,

And told us the things she taught her,

But then, alas,

She went back to class,

And as far as we could tell,

Continued until the turtle bell.
