Step on the Turtle

These are some games I thought of myself.  For this game you draw or find later pictures of turtles, about a foot across or so.  Then paste them on the floor around the room in a circle or any shape if you prefer to change that.  Then have students walk on the turtles.  This is like musical chairs, except you can ask a question or have them spell or define a word.  They stop when the music stops.  Turtle music can be used.  Have fun

Pin the tail on the turtle.  This can be fun for younger kids.  Have them instead pin the tail on the word or the correct syllable, or instead of tail have them pin the 'tale' and use the entire story in a book.

Have students see how many words they can get using only the letters in the word turtle.  You can expand on this and use any word or add words to this word in order to get more letters, such as turtle shells, or turtle reading and so forth.
