Research vampires.  What are the myths and how do those differ from what we see in Twilight?

Research other authors who have written about vampires in the past.  How do they compare with Twilight, and how successful were they?  Which ones have you read and which ones are your favorites?  If you have not read them, which ones would you like to read.

Activities and Project Ideas

Students can develop a board game based on the novel.  This can include cards and quiz questions.  Encouraqe students to be creative, yet include some facts from the story.  They also could create a card game or a board game about vampires.

Poster Activity

Who are you and what makes you unique?  What factors influence who you are?

Activities:

1.  Break the class into groups of three people each.  Assign each group to one of the characters from the novel.

2.  Tell students that they will be making a poster abut their group's character.  Each poster will include the following:  1.  Name of the character, 2.  Physical characteristics of the character, 3.  The character's personality traits, 4.  The character's relationship to other characters in the story, and 5.  Any other important information that is relevant to the novel.

3.  Pass out poster materials such as markers, colored pencils, poster board and so forth.

5.  Encourage students to discuss the similarities and differences between the characters and the factors that influence the identities of these characters.

6.  Relate the discussion of the characters to the identities of the students.

7.  Display the posters in the classroom to refer to as you continue to read the book.

8.  Add newly learned information about the characters to the posters and discuss this daily.

~To take on the persona and perspective of characters in the story.

~To build language and reading comprehension skills.

Role Playing

Students can role play parts from the story or write their own scenes based on characters.  Students can use props and costumes.

Question the Author

Students can ask another student who is pretending to be the author questions.  Then they can take turns.  This is a good activity for a review for a test.  Also this activity would work well when beginning the novel in order to help reluctant readers become more comfortable and interested in the story.  A variation on this is to question the characters in the story.  In this case students could dress up in costumes in order to portray specific characters and props or music could also be utilized.

Game Shows

Students can play game shows such as Wheel of Fortune based on the novel.  They can change the name to Vampire of Fortune or Twilight of Fortune and devise questions about the novel or the author.  This is a good activity for readers who are struggling with comprehension or vocabulary.

On this site you can find out which Twilight character you are.  There also are other games, info and activities on this site.
