Shells of Reading, Teaching and Learning Poetry
My Poetry About Some of My Favorite Things: Reading, Teaching and Learning
Reading Is...
Reading is
an interesting biz,
You really go to town
and can't put a book down.
Once I shook
When I read a book,
all it took
Was just one look.
Oh, you can be sure
You'll love literature.
And, it's quite the cure.
Teaching Online Readers
The online readers
Need cheerleaders
They will read,
But sometimes you must plead.
To Read One Book
All it took
Was just one book,
And then I shook
With just that one look.
Didn't want to cook
Or walk in gook
I was hooked
In my little nook
The Trick To Help Kids Read
It is like when you cook
To get a kid to like a book,
You see,
All ingredients of reading are in the recipe.
The Glory of a Story
There is a glory
in reading any story
Doesn't have to be gory,
Read, you won't be sorry!
Why Literature?
Literature
You can be sure
Is very pure
Once you catch the reading disease, there is no cure
How to Teach a Child to Read
Some kids you can't reach,
When you try to teach
Some think they don't need
To read
Show your concern
And help them learn
You can't wait
To educate.
To teach
Is to reach
A teacher
Is quite a creature
To learn
Is to earn
Always educate
Don't wait
No vacation
From education
Don't be a fool
Don't skip school
Hear my pledge
Go to college
Be all you can be,
Get that degree...
I met a fairy
At the library
She was kind of stary
But not scary
At least not very
Yet still I was wary
And not real darey
And no she was not hairy
Her husband's name was Larry
The one whom she did marry
What a fine pairy
None did they tarry
Over therey
Without a carey
At the library
Why Do You Need to Read?
Oh yes indeed
You need to read
Such contemplation
Will lead to education
With each page you turn,
There's more to learn
For that you will burn
Each word you earn.
Literacy
Literacy,
You see,
Is one of the most important things that will ever be,
From here to the sea,
For you and me,
Hear my plea,
and it is free
as gravity...
I read all the signs
Even between the signs
I looked through the pages
Of the stages and sages
Even decided to hover
On the cover
Lost in a sea
Of the glossary
So contrary,
Even the dictionary
All from this book
I took...
Poem
I wrote a poem
All on my own
Then I wrote a book,
And oh how much time it took,
And I didn't laugh
When I read my paragraph,
And I heard
Every word...
